Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich
A healthier version of the famous Nashville Hot Chicken, this sandwich is crunchy, sweet, and spicy. Whether you have it for lunch or dinner, the sandwich is bound to be loved by everyone who tries it!

- 1 large chicken breast or thigh
- 3 tbsp buttermilk
- 1/3 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 cup corn flakes finely crushed. leave some big pieces for an extra crunch
- 1/2 tbsp flour
- 1/2 tsp chopped fresh thyme
- olive oil for brushing
Hot Honey Sauce
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp honey
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper add more for extra spice
- dash of chili powder to taste. If you want it spicier add more to taste
- dash of paprika to taste. If you want it spicier add more to taste
- dash of garlic powder to taste
- dash of kosher salt
Add the chicken to a ziploc bag. Pour the buttermilk and salt over the chicken. You can also add paprika if you want the chicken to be spicier itself. Toss well, cover and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
Add the corn flakes, flour, thyme, and a pinch of salt to a medium sized bowl. Stir to combine.
Remove chicken from the buttermilk, and dredge through the crumbs, pressing gently to adhere. Place on the prepared baking sheet. Lightly brush the chicken with olive oil.
Transfer to the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, then flip the chicken over and continue cooking for another 10 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through. If using thighs, you may need to cook the chicken a little longer.
Meanwhile, make the hot honey sauce. Melt together all of the ingredients.
Generously brush the chicken with hot honey sauce. You can put some more spices on here if you want. Serve warm Enjoy!
