Kansas City Style Baby Back Ribs

Rock your taste buds with these super tender, sweet and savory ribs. Kansas City barbeque sauce is a classic and pairs really well with the hot dry rub I add to the ribs. These are perfect for the summer or even watching the Super Bowl if you want to honor of the Kansas City Chiefs ;)

Ingredients

For the Ribs

  • 1-2 slabs of ribs
  • homemade bbq rub to taste paprika, garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper

Homemade Kansas City BBQ Sauce

  • 1 1/4 c ketchup
  • 1 c dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 c molasses
  • 1/4 c apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 c water
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tsp ground mustard
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 3/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp corn starch mixed with 2 tbsp water

Instructions

For the Ribs

  • Preheat oven to 275 degrees
  • In a small bowl mix dry rub until combined and set aside
  • Rinse pork ribs and pat dry with paper towels
  • Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs
  • Spread the dry rub all over the ribs making sure to cover both sides.
  • Wrap ribs tightly in foil meat side up, place on baking sheet. Bake for 2 hours or until fork tender
  • Open foil and drain the liquid from the ribs. Brush the barbecue sauce on the ribs, grill 3-4 minutes on each side. Serve immediately!

For the Sauce

  • Combine all ingredients except the water/cornstarch mixture in a saucepan
  • Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally and cook for about 5 minutes.
  • Add the water/cornstarch mixture and stir and cook until the sauce starts to thicken.
  • Once desired thickness is reached, take off heat and put on ribs as instructed above!
