Hot Chocolate Bombs

hot chocolate bomb

With the temperatures dropping, we all need a warm go to drink. For some, that is coffee, but for me it is hot chocolate. Despite not having a TikTok, I did come across the hot chocolate bomb trend, which is basically making hot chocolate in a chocolate ball form as opposed to powder. After seeing this, I had to try it making it and have to say it is pretty fun and better than the hot chocolate packet. From the extra chocolaty flavor, to the large variety of hot chocolate’s that can be made, I highly recommend making at least one hot chocolate bomb this winter.

the details of hot chocolate bombs

How do hot chocolate bombs work? Well you either put on in a mug and pour steaming hot milk on it or you throw it in a mug already filled with milk. No matter what you do, you can watch the hot chocolate bomb melt and “explode” into a delicious, chocolaty drink.

The great thing about hot chocolate bombs is they are super easy to make and you can make so many flavors. From original hot chocolate, to peppermint, to Oreo, the options are endless. I personally love peppermint hot chocolate, as well as triple chocolate hot chocolate, so that’s what I experimented with. I added peppermint extract to my peppermint hot chocolate to make sure it had a true and strong peppermint flavor. As for the triple hot chocolate, I used white, milk, and dark chocolate.

So what’s in a hot chocolate bomb other than chocolate? Well, that’s up to you! You can put the classic hot chocolate mix and marshmallows in them, or make your own mix with cocoa powder and some sugar. You can also put candy or cookie crumbs in them or sprinkles and crushed candy canes. They are a perfect dessert to play around with. Personally, I put a bit of cocoa powder in mine, as well as marshmallows and peppermint candy.

Not only is a hot chocolate bomb super satisfying as it melts and “explodes” with the addition of hot milk, but it also adds more flavor to your hot chocolate, as real chocolate is used, making the overall drink more chocolaty than if you were to just use a cocoa powder mix.
