Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich

Sandwiches are my favorite food to create. There are so many different ways you can go about making one, and for me, one of the easiest, but still rewarding, is taking a classic dish and turning it into a sandwich. Here I took the well-known Nashville Hot Chicken and turned it into a sandwich. I decided to keep this one plain jane, focusing on the breading and sauce, as opposed to the wide-variety of toppings I could've put on it.

the details of the nashville hot chicken sandwich

Oven fried, breaded in corn flakes, and topped with a hot honey sauce, this sandwich takes your tastebuds right to Nashville.

The crunch of the corn flakes and the olive oil that is brushed on the chicken before putting it in the oven makes it seem as if it is fried. While I prefer fried chicken, this is great, as it provides a slightly healthier "fried" chicken option.

What makes this chicken insanely good though is the hot honey sauce. Stemming out of Nashville, this sauce is both sweet and spicy. I personally, like to have it on the spicier side, so I added more paprika, chili powder, and cayenne than one usually would. Either way, the sauce is delicious.

What tops the dish off? The answer is the brioche bun I used for the sandwich. Lightly coated in butter and toasted, this bun is ideal for many sandwiches, as it brings more flavor to the meal. Overall, if you like fried chicken and spicy food, this sandwich has to be on your list of things to make. It truly will knock your tastebuds out of this world.

If you are not a fan of things being too spicy, then go ahead and add a little extra honey to the sauce. It'll make it on the sweeter side and will still be super tasty. Another way to change up this sandwich is to actually fry it. I would suggest frying it in peanut oil. Finally, instead of being a plain jane like myself, you can add your favorite coleslaw, pickles, etc. to this sandwich. Toppings or no toppings, the sandwich will be amazing!
