Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownie Skillet
This Mothers Day the one thing my mom requested was chocolate. So I considered multiple chocolate desserts, as there's a plethora of them. As I was thinking about something that is simple to make, delicious, and pleases the whole family, I remebered the Chocolate Peanut Butter Skillet Brownie I had been wanting to make for well over a month now. From the classic chocolate brownie to the delicious natural peanut butter topping, this dessert creates the peanut butter chocolate combination that we all know and love.
the details of the chocolate peanut butter brownie skillet
Using decadent dark chocolate, this brownie knocks others out of the park. It is rich and perfect for people who are chocolate obsessed. Cooking the brownie in a skillet allows for crispier edges, while also taking away the tough corner pieces than some people do not like. As for the peanut butter topping, you can make your own peanut butter with peanuts and salt, or use a natural peanut butter that you have on hand like I did. Swirl as much as you want on top, there really is no limit.
brownie subsitutes
If you are not a fan of dark chocolate, feel free to substitute semi-sweet chocolate. It'll still provide the chocolate pb combo, but may not be as rich. As for the peanut butter, if that is not your preferred nut butter, substitute it with almond, pecan, or cashew butter. These three butters pair well with chocolate, but will provide the brownie with a slightly different taste. Finally, to fulfill your chocolate "kneads" even more, add some type of chocolate chip. This will not only make the brownie more chocolaty, but it will also add a new texture to the dessert.

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup natural peanut butter store-bought or homemade
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Grease a cast-iron skillet with softened butter, cooking spray, or neutral oil
- In the microwave, melt butter and chocolate in a bowl at 20 second intervals until completely melted and smooth.
- Sift cocoa powder over the melted chocolate mixture. Whisk until smooth and well-combined. Set aside to cool slightly.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, mix together eggs and sugar until pale and creamy.
- Add in the melted chocolate mixture and gently fold together using a rubber spatula.
- Gently fold in flour.
- Pour batter into the prepared skillet, using a rubber spatula to evenly spread to the edges.
- Use a tablespoon to dollop dots of peanut butter over top of brownie batter. Then take a butter knife and swirl the peanut butter into the batter.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges have set. Test with a toothpick or knife to ensure they are done.
- Allow to cool for at least 10 minutes then serve!! I suggest using a plastic knife to cut the brownies, as this prevents them from breaking. Enjoy!
