the details of Italian Meatballs

Homemade meatballs are delicious and sometimes considered a special meal to make. The great thing about mine is they use less than 10 ingredients and that includes the sauce!! My homemade meatballs also can be mixed up in one bowl, which is great for people who hate doing a ton of dishes, like myself!

Now, when it comes to the actual details of these meatballs, I find that the Italian seasoned breadcrumbs and spices are what make the meatballs taste so good. While I’m a sucker for Panko breadcrumbs, I find that normal, seasoned breadcrumbs are best in meatballs. That is because they are finer and therefore add flavor without making the meatballs crunchy. Another great thing about breadcrumbs in homemade meatballs is they keep the meatballs juicy. This is because the breadcrumbs soak up liquid and since they are holding the meatballs together, that liquid stays in the meatballs.

Since I like to use seasoned breadcrumbs, I don’t go overboard on seasoning my meatballs. Instead, I used a tsp of oregano, a tsp of parsley, and a tsp of garlic powder. I find that anything else would be too much! Especially because some Italian spices, like oregano, can be very overpowering.

When it comes to my homemade meatballs, there aren’t really any substitutes I would make. The only thing you could do use 2 tsp of Italian seasoning as opposed to my tsp of oregano and tsp of parsley. You could also sub the beef for turkey, but I’ve never tried it, so I don’t know if the meatballs will turn out as well!

As for how to serve the meatballs, I suggest making them mini and serving them on toothpicks, putting them on rolls, or adding them to your favorite spaghetti recipe!

Never been to Italy, but I imagine this is how their meatballs taste. They were so yummy, not too chewy, and easy to make! If I could I’d give them 10 stars
