15-Minute Game Day Nachos
The Super Bowl is 12 days away, so I’m bringing you 12 of my favorite appetizers that are perfect for game day. To start off, I made these super easy and delicious game day nachos. As you can see in the title, they only take 15 minutes to make, including cook time. They are super flavorful and can be kept simple or come loaded. Perfect for everyone!
the details of nachos
Nachos take 5 minutes to whip up. You just need your favorite tortilla chips (I personally like thin and salty chips), some kind of protein whether that be meat or beans, veggies like peppers or onions, lots of cheese, and your favorite toppings, including greek yogurt, salsa, queso, or guac!
To assemble the nachos, grab a sheet pan and pour as many chips on your want on it. Next, add your protein and veggies. Then throw some cheese all over the nachos, making sure every chip has some. Bake the nachos for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted. Next, add your favorite toppings. I added greek yogurt as a sour cream substitute and even put some salsa on (post picture taking). I think that simple nachos are the best nachos, as there are enough ingredients to create jam-packed flavor, but not too many ingredients, where one flavor may be too overpowering.
nacho subsitutes
When it comes to nachos, you can put whatever your heart desires on them. What really matters is that you have chips and cheese. I kept things simple and didn’t add meat to my nachos, but if I did, I would most definitely add pulled pork. Other meats that go well with nachos are ground beef, ground turkey, chorizo, and pulled chicken.
If you want to add a protein that isn’t a meat, you can use more than one bean. I personally used black beans, but adding pinto and kidney beans in the mix would be super good!
Another topping that you should add, which I didn’t have on hand, is lime pickled onions. I kid you not when I say that I am obsessed with lime pickled onions. They have the delicious flavor of a red onion, but aren’t raw and crunchy, and have a kick of lime, which just puts them over the top. Basically, if you want to add lime to your nachos in any way, these onions are the way to do it.
